MEETING THEM: EUROPEAN CANCER
SURVIVORS GAVE HOPE TO CHILDREN WITH LEUKEMIA

Creating tremendous impressions, the youth Project “Hands Tenacious of Life” took place in the main sponsorship of the Center for European Union Education and Youth Programmes and through many other sponsors with the hospitality of LOSEV during 6-15th July, 2009. Young cancer survivors from 6 countries including Luxembourg, Hungary, Romania, Poland and Portugal got together in Turkey, in Cappadocia & Ankara.

With the mediation of LÖSEV’s equivalent organizations, European cancer survivors who had been preparing Ebru Cards for 8 days, presented them to leukemic children after writing down their messages of hope.

Voicing their thoughts via art practices symbolizing creativity and innovation, the youngsters inspired by Cappadocia’s magical nature rode a hot balloon called “All Colors of Hope” to give positive messages and to attract the world’s attention to the cancer.

Visiting Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Nevşehir and Avanos Municipalities, the youngsters got fully informed about the Cappadocia Region and also came together with Turkish cancer survivor youngsters within joyous and enjoyable activities. Furthermore, they organized an art exhibition with the precious support of Hotel Karlık Evi and the participation of voluntary artists, in which they had a chance to share their work with masses.

Performing many other workshops especially in Ankara, the youngsters realized the differences and variety of the European culture as well as discovered its richness through the “European Art Map” they created in the end of the project.
