Embracing Life Through Art
Embracing Life Through Art
The “Embracing Life Through Art” Project was launched in 2009 under the leadership of LÖSEV (The Foundation for Children with Leukemia), with the main sponsorship of the Turkish National Agency under the European Union Education and Youth Programs.
With partner organizations from Romania, Hungary, Luxembourg, Portugal, and Poland, this international initiative brought together young people who had completed cancer treatment, using the healing power of art to raise awareness about cancer and inspire hope. The project, held in Cappadocia and Ankara, strengthened the bonds of hope, culture, and solidarity through creative workshops and artistic collaboration.
Art Became Hope, Colors Turned into Life
In the enchanting landscape of Cappadocia, Turkish and European youth came together to live the theme of “Art for Hope.”
Through workshops in Ebru art (traditional Turkish paper marbling), pottery, oil painting, music, and group performances, they discovered that art can heal, connect, and give new meaning to life. The young participants exhibited their works, showcasing not only the beauty of art but also the strength of empathy and shared creativity. During the Ankara phase of the project, they presented their own cultures through interactive sessions, celebrating Europe’s shared values and cultural diversity.
One Voice Against Cancer
The “Embracing Life Through Art” Project once again proved that hope and solidarity know no borders. The creation of a symbolic “European Art Map” and the release of the “All the Colors of Hope” hot air balloon over Cappadocia carried uplifting messages against cancer and fulfilled the project’s mission of awareness and unity.
Through the creativity and compassion of young people, LÖSEV continues to bring hope to children and families affected by cancer — showing that art can heal hearts and change lives.
